Fabrication Guidelines for Zamak 3 Zinc Alloy

Soft Material Strategy:
Zamak 3 is non-abrasive and relatively soft. Conseil : We use sharp, uncoated carbide tools with high rake angles to prevent material smearing and ensure crisp exit edges.

Sensibilité au maintien en position :
Zinc is dense but can be more brittle than aluminum under high point loads. Conseil : We use custom soft jaws to distribute clamping pressure evenly, preventing deformation or cracking of thin-walled housing sections.

Coolant Usage:
While zinc can be machined dry, water-soluble coolant is recommended to keep the part cool and flush away chips. Conseil : This maintains dimensional stability and prevents the material from building up on the cutting edge.

Threading & Tapping:
Zamak 3 accepts threads excellently. Conseil : We use roll taps (forming taps) for smaller holes to create stronger threads without producing extra chips in blind holes.
