Avantages

Identify treated surfaces

Mark surfaces to blast, mask or protect on the drawing.

Use a clear appearance reference

Attach an approved sample or defined visual acceptance method.

Protect critical geometry

Call out threads, datums, bores and dimensions for review.

Specify process sequence

List any coating or finishing step that follows blasting.

Describe the surface condition you need

Bead blasting services are usually specified as part of a finishing scope. Identify the material, areas to process and the required appearance or customer finish reference. Do not rely on a generic phrase such as uniform matte finish if the drawing needs a measurable or sample-based acceptance criterion.

Protéger les caractéristiques fonctionnelles

Mark threads, bores, sealing faces, datum surfaces and other areas that should be masked or reviewed. Identify critical dimensions and whether they are checked before or after blasting. If a cosmetic sample controls appearance, attach the approved reference and state how it will be compared.

Include downstream requirements

State whether blasting is followed by coating, anodizing or another finish and identify the required sequence. Provide the drawing revision, material grade, quantity, inspection evidence and packaging instructions. Confirm that the part geometry and substrate are compatible with the requested finish.

Bead-blasting RFQ checklist

  • Material and part drawing revision
  • Target surfaces and appearance reference
  • Masking and protected functional features
  • Dimensions critiques et méthode d'acceptation
  • Follow-on finish and packaging requirements

Review the requested finish and protected geometry together before approving the process scope.

Foire aux questions

What should I specify for bead blasting services?

+

Provide the substrate, target areas, appearance reference, masking, critical dimensions and acceptance method.

Does bead blasting always produce the same finish?

+

No. The result depends on material, geometry and process scope; use a reference and project-specific acceptance criteria.

Should threads or sealing faces be protected?

+

If they must maintain a defined fit or surface condition, mark them for masking or review.

Can bead blasting be followed by coating?

+

A sequence can be requested, but identify both steps and their acceptance requirements in the RFQ.

How does bead blasting differ from mirror polishing?

+

They target different surface conditions. State the required appearance and finish reference rather than treating the processes as equivalent.
