Turn complex geometry into clear references
Complex geometry machined parts are easier to quote and inspect when the drawing shows how features relate. Select functional datums, identify mating interfaces and dimension holes, pockets, angled faces and profiles from those references. A 3D model helps communicate form, but it does not replace the dimensions and acceptance criteria that control the part.
Separate critical features from descriptive shape
Mark the dimensions that affect fit, alignment or function and state units and tolerances. Identify surfaces that need a finish requirement, edges that need deburring and features that should be inspected with a report. If a geometry is hard to measure, define the method or request a review before release.
Keep design intent and process choice connected
Provide material, quantity, drawing revision and intended use. The supplier can review a suitable machining route from the actual requirements, but a complex shape alone does not establish five-axis capability, a tolerance or a qualification claim.

Drawing review checklist
- Functional datums and mating interfaces
- Critical dimensions with units and tolerances

- Material, quantity and revision control
Resolve ambiguous references before approving a quote or accepting the finished part.
