State whether 5-axis machining is a design or purchasing requirement, or whether the supplier may review another route. Do not assume a process label guarantees a particular machine, setup count, or result.
Provide controlled geometry
Send the current 2D drawing and 3D model, units, part number, revision, quantity, and material specification. Identify profile surfaces, root or attachment interfaces, datum features, and other critical areas that exist in the actual design.
Ask focused tool-access questions
Ask the supplier to review tool access, workholding, datum transfer, and areas that may need more than one orientation. Require assumptions or open questions to be stated before the quote is approved.
