Surface Preparation:
Paint amplifies surface defects. Parts must be sanded smooth (400-600 grit) and primed before painting. Tip: If you need a high-gloss finish, the underlying surface must be polished to near-mirror quality first.
Masking:
Paint adds thickness and can clog threads or affect snap-fits. We use precision die-cut tape to mask areas that must remain paint-free. Tip: Clearly mark “No Paint” zones on your PDF drawings.
Internal Corners:
Unlike plating, spraying into deep, narrow boxes is difficult due to air turbulence (blowback). Tip: Ensure deep pockets have ample draft angles or wide openings for the spray gun to access.
Plastic Compatibility:
Some solvents in paint can attack plastics (like polycarbonate), causing stress cracking. We use specific formulations compatible with the substrate material. Always specify the exact plastic grade.
