Define the thread before requesting service
Thread milling services should be specified from the drawing and mating requirement. Include the thread standard, nominal size, pitch, class or fit, handedness, depth and required engagement. A note that says thread this hole is not enough to identify the finished feature.
Include the surrounding geometry
Show the hole or feature location, approach surface, thread depth, relief and any clearance requirements. Identify material grade and any coating or finish that changes the final thread condition. If a thread mates with a controlled component, state the relevant fit or inspection reference.
Internal and external threads
Identify whether the feature is internal or external and specify right-hand or left-hand direction. For blind holes, state usable thread depth and drill depth separately when relevant. For long engagement or thin-wall parts, show the surrounding geometry so the feature can be reviewed in context.
Inspection and acceptance
State the required thread gauge, inspection method or measurement record where applicable. Specify edge break, burr removal and any cleaning or coating sequence. Confirm whether the quote includes inspection and finishing operations.
- Thread standard and size
- Pitch, class or fit and hand
- Thread depth and engagement
- Material, quantity and finish
- Inspection and acceptance method
For related rotational features, see the услугой токарной обработки с ЧПУ. Include the complete thread callout and current drawing revision when requesting a quote.
Prepare a clear RFQ
Send the drawing, material, quantity and any mating-part or gauge requirements. A supplier can then review the thread feature and confirm the scope before production.
