Identify the reference and opposing faces
CNC flat grinding services are easier to scope when the drawing shows which face establishes the reference and which opposing face must relate to it. Include the part number, material, quantity, and current revision. If the finished thickness is critical, state the dimension and its datum references clearly.
Separate flatness from parallelism
Flatness and parallelism describe different relationships. Include the geometric controls that the part design requires and reference the applicable datums. Avoid using a general âflat groundâ phrase where the drawing needs measurable acceptance criteria.
Show edges, steps, and interrupted surfaces
Identify shoulders, slots, holes, reliefs, and edge conditions that affect how the reference faces are produced or inspected. If a face is interrupted, note which lands or pads are functional and how their relationship is evaluated.
State the inspection approach
Specify how critical thickness and geometric controls will be measured, the measurement condition, and whether a report is required. Any coating or later operation that changes the final thickness should be reflected in the drawing sequence.
Compare the exact grinding scope
Provide the same drawing revision, material, quantity, face requirements, finish, and inspection scope to each supplier. Confirm whether edge treatment, records, and packaging are included.
