Confirm CNC is the right prototype route
CNC machining automotive prototypes starts with the geometry, material, quantity and purpose of the sample. Review whether the part's features can be machined as designed and whether the selected material is needed for the evaluation. This page is limited to CNC machining and does not claim 3D-printing services.
Prepare a machineable and reviewable package
Send a controlled model and drawing with datums, interfaces, critical features and finish. Identify the test or fit check, quantity and inspection evidence. If the design is incomplete, mark assumptions and request engineering clarification before quoting.
- Model, drawing and revision must match.
- State material and approved substitutions.
- Mark interfaces, tolerances and inspection points.
- List any outside operation or documentation required.
- Request a schedule based on reviewed scope.
Check the sample against its purpose
Use the agreed measurement plan to evaluate the features relevant to the prototype. A CNC sample does not validate vehicle-level performance, safety or production approval.
For the development workflow, see fabrication de prototypes automobiles. For process selection beyond a single route, see fabrication de pièces automobiles.
Carry approved changes forward
Record design findings, issue the next revision and confirm whether process assumptions changed. Keep the quote and inspection plan tied to the correct drawing.
