Use the drawing to evaluate horizontal milling
Horizontal CNC milling services may be considered when a part has side features or relationships that need to be reviewed in a horizontal setup. The part drawing, material and acceptance scope determine whether that route makes sense. Do not assume that orientation alone guarantees fewer operations, faster delivery or a lower price.
Identify side features and references
Show holes, slots, pockets and mating faces on the current drawing. Identify datums, critical dimensions and which features must remain aligned. Provide the material grade, quantity, finish, deburring and inspection requirements so the quote can be based on the complete part.
Compare alternatives against one scope
If vertical and horizontal approaches are both being considered, ask the supplier to state the assumptions and inspection plan for each. Compare the same drawing revision, material, quantity and finished condition rather than a process label alone.
For vertical-orientation considerations, see services de fraisage CNC vertical. For broader CNC part machining, see services d’usinage CNC.
Horizontal milling RFQ checklist
- Current CAD model and drawing revision
- Nuance de matériau et quantité
- Side features, datums and critical relationships
- Finish and inspection evidence
- Quote assumptions and secondary operations
Confirm the proposed process against the part geometry and measurable acceptance criteria.
