Fabrication Guidelines for Optical Grade PC

Clarity Maintenance:
Tool marks are highly visible in optical parts. Tip: We use a very small step-over (0.05mm or less) during the finishing pass to minimize tool lines, making the subsequent vapor polishing process more effective.

Scratch Protection:
Optical PC is relatively soft and scratches easily. Tip: We apply protective adhesive masking immediately after machining and keep the workspace meticulously clean to prevent surface damage.

Coolant Selection:
Non-compatible coolants can turn optical PC cloudy or cause micro-cracking. Tip: We use only high-purity, plastic-safe water-soluble coolants or chilled air-blast cooling to maintain material transparency.

Annealing for Optics:
Internal stress can distort light paths (birefringence). Tip: We perform strictly controlled annealing cycles to ensure the light transmission properties are uniform throughout the part.
