When sourcing machined metal parts from China, the buyer should make material requirements and supporting records explicit. A general metal name does not establish the grade, condition or traceability required by a specific part.
Specify grade and condition
Use the designation and standard from the approved drawing or purchase specification. Include temper, heat treatment or condition only when the design requires it. Do not accept a proposed substitute without review by the authorized engineering contact.
Define the records that matter
If material certificates, lot identification or traceability are required, state the document and how it must relate to the delivered parts. Confirm who obtains, reviews and supplies the records, especially when an outside supplier is involved.
Separate machining from finishing
State whether coating, heat treatment or another outside process is part of the quote. Identify who is responsible for process selection, inspection and the documentation required after the operation.
Confirm cross-border supplier and delivery details
Verify the contracting entity and location of each quoted operation. Agree on packaging, export documents, shipping terms and destination responsibilities before comparing total cost.
For general material specification guidance, see the CNC materials section. For the sourcing RFQ package, review 中国CNC加工部品.
Review before purchase
Confirm that grade, condition, quantity, finish, required records, included operations and delivery terms agree between the quote and purchase order. Record any approved change to keep later deliveries traceable.
