Before requesting a quote, check the file set
- Use one current drawing revision and a matching model.
- Include units, part number, material standard, quantity, and finish.
- Show the assembly or mating references that explain the partâs function.
Mark only the features that control performance
Identify bores, interfaces, locating faces, threads, sealing areas, or other dimensions that determine fit or function. Tie each control to the stated datum scheme. Use the general drawing standard for noncritical features unless the design requires a separate tolerance.
Rendere l'accettazione misurabile
For every critical feature, state how it should be measured and what record is required. Confirm units, inspection condition, sample or lot requirements, and any customer-specific documents. Do not use âhigh precisionâ as a substitute for a measurable drawing requirement.
Common gaps to resolve before release
- A model and drawing that show different revisions.
- A tight tolerance with no datum or clear measurement reference.
- A finish note that does not identify affected surfaces.
- A material or inspection document assumed but not included in the purchase scope.
Keep changes under approval
If manufacturability review suggests a material, tolerance, or geometry change, document the proposal and obtain approval from the responsible design authority. Issue revised files and confirm the effect on inspection and quote scope.
