Define what the part needs to say
Laser engraving services for machined parts should begin with the exact text, logo, serial number or other approved marking content. Provide vector artwork or a controlled text file, the drawing revision and the required position and orientation. Confirm whether the request is for a visible surface mark or a feature with a specified depth; do not leave the method to assumption.
Check material and surrounding geometry
Identify the substrate, finish condition and any coated or treated surfaces. Mark nearby edges, holes, sealing faces and areas that must not be marked. State whether the mark may be placed before or after surface finishing, since sequence can affect the visible result.
Agree on how the mark is accepted
Specify legibility, location and any inspection evidence required. If contrast, size or permanence matters, provide a reference sample or objective acceptance criteria. Confirm the marking area on the drawing before production.
