Start with a complete thread callout
Identify the applicable thread standard or form, nominal size, pitch, handedness, class or fit requirement, and any drawing-specific details. If a thread is nonstandard, include a clear drawing and identify which dimensions control acceptance. Do not rely on a product name alone.
Show how the thread fits into the assembly
Where possible, provide the mating component or its verified specification. Explain whether the thread is internal or external, where it sits on the part, and which surfaces or features affect assembly. Mark critical relationships on the current drawing.
Make inspection expectations explicit
State the acceptance criteria and requested inspection records in the RFQ. If a particular gauge, measurement method, or documentation format is required, name it and ask the supplier to confirm it before work begins. Do not assume that an unspecified method is included.
Keep material and revision details aligned
List material, quantity, finish, and current drawing revision together. For a revised thread or mating part, identify what changed and request confirmation that the quote and inspection plan use the same revision.
Compare quotations by scope
Check whether each response covers the same thread callout, material, quantity, finishing, inspection, packaging, and delivery terms. Ask about assumptions or exclusions before comparing prices. Feasibility, price, and timing require project-specific review.
