Specify the HDPE stock and the part function
HDPE is a material designation, but a specific grade or purchase specification may still be required. State what material must be used and what the finished component needs to do. If another polyethylene grade is proposed, confirm it with the design authority before accepting a substitution.

Identify fit and acceptance details
- Mark datums, mating features, holes and critical dimensions.
- Provide material grade, quantity and drawing revision.
- Call out thin walls, slots, pockets and any restricted access.
- Specify finish, deburring and inspection requirements.
- Describe relevant service conditions if they affect the design.
The drawing and agreed inspection method define acceptance. Avoid relying on a general tolerance statement or material label for part-specific requirements.
