What makes ABS parts a machining question
ABS CNC machining makes custom parts from plastic stock using subtractive operations. Buyers often need housings, brackets, covers or prototypes with defined dimensions and interfaces. The material callout should identify grade, color and any customer specification; different ABS stock should not be assumed to behave identically.
Design around walls, holes and fit
Show wall sections, bosses, slots, holes and threads with clear datums. Identify surfaces that mate with another part and dimensions that control assembly. Thin sections, close edge distances and unsupported areas deserve review because the part geometry and workholding affect how features can be produced and inspected.
State appearance and finish requirements
Mark which faces are visible and describe any edge, deburring or surface-finish requirements. A machined face may not have the same texture or appearance as a molded surface. If color or appearance is important, state the acceptance target and material specification before the quotation.
Choose a process for the quantity and design
CNC machining can be useful for custom parts, revisions and limited quantities. For other quantities or geometries, compare it with a tooling-based process using the actual design and production plan. See our CNC plastic machining page for broader plastic-part machining information and our دليل المواد البلاستيكية for material context.
Files to include with a request
Provide a 2D drawing and 3D model when available. Include ABS grade, quantity, critical dimensions, interface details, finish and inspection needs. The team can review the drawing and clarify requirements before confirming machining scope and price.
