A Contract Machining Scope and Control Checklist

Contract machining services describe work performed under an agreed commercial and technical scope. The page is focused on managing that agreement: which parts and operations are included, who can approve changes, what evidence is required and how delivery is accepted. It is separate from a general overview of custom machining capabilities.

Write a measurable statement of work

Identify part numbers, quantities, drawing revisions, material requirements, included operations, outside processes and deliverables. State exclusions and assumptions explicitly. If repeat orders are expected, document how forecasts or releases will be confirmed.

Assign decision rights

Name the contacts authorized to release files, answer technical questions, approve substitutions and accept deviations. A supplier should not treat an informal message or unapproved file as a controlled change to the order.

Control changes and nonconformances

Use a written change record that describes the new revision, effective date, affected quantities and required approvals. Agree how a nonconforming part will be identified, contained, reviewed and dispositioned before any rework or replacement is authorized.

Определите записи и приёмку

State which inspection results, material documents or process records must accompany delivery, if any. Define who reviews them, how discrepancies are raised and what constitutes acceptance. Requirements should match the part and program; they should not be inferred from a generic service label.

Review commercial handoffs

Confirm pricing basis, quantity changes, packaging, shipping terms, schedule updates and responsibility for outside operations. Keep the approved statement of work and current drawing available to procurement, engineering and receiving.

For the custom-machining service scope itself, see контрактная обработка на заказ. For how OEM part files are prepared, see Детали, обрабатываемые для OEM.

Before issuing the order

Check that the purchase order, quote, drawing revision, inspection requirements and delivery terms agree. Recording these details up front gives both parties a clear reference if the design or schedule changes.
