How to Review a CNC Machining Vendor Quote

A CNC machining vendor quote is useful when it responds to the actual RFQ rather than relying on broad claims. Review the vendor’s understanding of the part, the stated scope and the evidence available for the requirements that matter to your project.

Confirm the quote matches your package

Check the part number, drawing revision, material, quantity and requested finish. If a vendor proposes an alternative or identifies a drawing conflict, resolve it in writing before comparing the price as final.

Read what is included and excluded

Confirm whether material, machining, outside processes, inspection, reports, packaging and shipping are included. Identify assumptions such as minimum order quantity, setup cost or price validity, and ask what would trigger a revision to the quote.

Assess the quality of the response

Does the vendor ask about critical features and acceptance criteria? Does it explain inspection records and how questions will be handled? If your program needs a certification or material traceability, request current evidence and confirm its scope before award.

Compare vendors fairly

Use a comparison sheet with identical inputs: scope, price basis, open questions, records, exclusions and schedule assumptions. Avoid treating an unconfirmed estimate or generic capability statement as a firm commitment.

For a consistent parts RFQ, use this CNC machining supplier comparison checklist. To compare custom OEM part requirements, see Детали, обрабатываемые для OEM.

Before placing the order

Ask the selected vendor to confirm the final quote version, drawing revision, open items, acceptance requirements and delivery terms. Keep the confirmation with the purchase order so both parties use the same basis.
