LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene)

LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) is the most flexible member of the polyethylene family, prized for its excellent impact resistance and near-universal chemical inertness. It is softer and more compliant than HDPE, making it the perfect material for high-performance gaskets, soft-touch prototypes, and protective covers. Machining LDPE requires a delicate touch; its extreme softness can cause it to "flow" away from the cutting tool. At Jucheng Precision, we utilize specialized high-speed milling and precision turning techniques to maintain accuracy in this flexible polymer. We deliver burr-free LDPE components for the Packaging, Medical, and Industrial sectors, ensuring your soft-touch parts meet strict dimensional and functional requirements.

Low-Density Polyethylene

Available LDPE Variants

Grade Common Name Key Characteristics Typical Applications
Virgin LDPE Natural LDPE Translucent milky-white. FDA compliant. Highest flexibility and impact strength. Gaskets, soft tubing, protective caps.
Anti-Static LDPE LDPE-ESD Modified to prevent static discharge. Often pink or grey. Electronics protection, cleanroom packaging components.

LDPE Machining Capabilities

Capability Technical Description Jucheng Advantage
Soft-Material Turning Utilizing ultra-sharp tooling to turn flexible LDPE seals and caps without deformation. Our specialized tool geometries ensure clean cuts, maintaining precise diameter control in this soft material.
High-Speed Die-Cutting Simulation CNC milling intricate 2D shapes for custom gaskets from LDPE sheets. Allows for rapid prototyping of sealing components without the cost of expensive dies.
Burr-Free Micro-Milling Milling fine features in soft LDPE without the “fuzz” common in compliant plastics. Jucheng achieves clean edges that are ready for medical or electronics assembly.

Fabrication Guidelines for LDPE

Preventing Deflection: LDPE is very soft. Tip: We use high-speed spindles and light feed rates to ensure the tool cuts the material before it can bend away.

Cryogenic Machining (Optional): For extremely tight tolerances, we can cool the material to increase its rigidity during the cut, preventing dimensional drift.

Surface Integrity: LDPE is easily scratched. Tip: We use gentle vacuum workholding and protective inter-leaving between parts to ensure a pristine surface finish.

Primary Application Industries

Medical & Healthcare: Flexible gaskets for devices and soft-touch protective covers for clinical instruments.

Industrial Packaging: Custom-machined protective plugs and caps that protect sensitive threads during transport.

Consumer Goods: Soft prototypes for squeezable containers and functional closures requiring flexibility.
