HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) is a rugged, cost-effective thermoplastic known for its high impact strength, excellent moisture resistance, and FDA compliance. It is the premier material for "wear and tear" applications, such as guide rails and food-cutting surfaces. At Jucheng Precision, we leverage the high machinability of HDPE to deliver large-scale components with rapid turnaround. Despite its waxy surface, our advanced CNC milling ensures smooth finishes and precise hole alignments for industrial liners and rollers. We specialize in producing FDA-compliant parts for the food industry and corrosion-resistant components for the marine and chemical sectors, providing a durable solution that survives the toughest environments.

High-Density Polyethylene

Available HDPE Variants

Grade Common Name Key Characteristics Typical Applications
Virgin HDPE Natural HDPE Pure white, FDA/USDA compliant. Best for food and medical use. Cutting boards, lab equipment, medical containers.
Black HDPE UV Stabilized Added carbon black for excellent outdoor weather resistance. Marine fittings, outdoor signage, agricultural parts.
HMWPE / UHMWPE Ultra-High Molecular Weight Even higher wear resistance and lower friction than standard HDPE. Guide rails, conveyor wear strips, star wheels.

HDPE Machining Capabilities

Capability Technical Description Jucheng Advantage
Large-Format Milling Milling oversized wear plates and liners from thick HDPE slabs. Our large-travel gantry mills handle parts up to 2 meters with uniform thickness and flat surfaces.
High-Speed Turning Rapid production of industrial rollers, spacers, and pulleys using bar-fed lathes. Offers extremely competitive unit pricing for high-volume industrial hardware.
Complex 3-Axis Routing Cutting intricate silhouettes and hole patterns for food-processing components. We achieve clean, burr-free edges, ensuring no plastic contamination in food-grade environments.

Fabrication Guidelines for HDPE

Expansion Awareness: HDPE has a high thermal expansion. Tip: We maintain stable workshop temperatures to ensure that large plates don’t “bow” or change size during the cut.

Sharp Tooling: HDPE is soft but tough. Blunt tools will “smear” the plastic. Tip: We use ultra-sharp tools with high relief angles to achieve a smooth, professional matte finish.

Workholding: The waxy surface is slippery. We use specialized high-grip soft jaws or vacuum tables to ensure the part doesn’t shift under heavy milling loads.

Primary Application Industries

Food Processing: FDA-compliant cutting boards, sliding guides, and star wheels for bottling lines.

Marine Industry: UV-resistant storage boxes, seat frames, and decorative trim that won’t rot or corrode.

Material Handling: Wear strips, guide rails, and chute liners for high-speed conveyor systems.
