CNC turned parts are generally suited to components whose features are organized around a rotational axis. The drawing should make the part's geometry and acceptance criteria clear; exact process selection and achievable results must be confirmed against the specific design and supplier quote.
Define the profile and datums
Show the overall length, diameter changes, shoulders, grooves, bores and datum references needed to describe the part. Provide a matching model when it helps communicate the shape, and state which document controls dimensions.
Call out threads and interfaces
Specify thread form and size, mating diameters, fits and other features that affect assembly. Mark the surfaces or edges with functional requirements so they are not treated as cosmetic notes.
State material and finish requirements
Name the required material grade and standard. If a surface finish or later treatment matters, describe it and clarify whether it is part of the machining quote or an outside process.
Stabilire le aspettative di ispezione
Identify the dimensions and features that must be checked, the acceptance criteria and any requested report. Ask the supplier to flag geometry or tolerance questions before the quote is approved.
For the broader part information package, see Parti lavorate a CNC. For general quoting and supplier comparison, use the CNC supplier RFQ guide.
Review the design before release
Check that the drawing, model, revision, material, quantity and acceptance notes agree. This gives the supplier a useful basis to identify questions and prepare a quote tied to the intended part.
