Define the surfaces and relationship to datums
Precision grinding services should be requested against a drawing that identifies the surfaces to grind, the datums used to locate the part and the dimensions that control fit. State the material grade and part condition. A general label such as precision does not establish a tolerance or surface finish.
Clarify stock and sequence
If the design specifies grind allowance, indicate it on the drawing and explain whether dimensions apply before or after grinding. Identify adjacent faces, shoulders, slots and holes that must remain in relationship. Note any heat treatment, coating or other process that affects sequence, without assuming a particular result.
Make inspection measurable
List critical dimensions, units, measurement points and any report required for acceptance. Provide the current model and drawing revision, quantity and packaging needs. If a datum or inspection approach is not defined, resolve it before the quote is treated as final.

Grinding RFQ checklist
- Werkstoffsorte und Teileversion
- Surfaces, datums and grind allowance
- Critical dimensions and required finish
- Process sequence and post-process condition
- Inspection method, report and quantity
Ask for a feasibility review of the stated dimensions and material before releasing the job.
