Standard petroleum-based coolants can cause immediate failure. We use non-aromatic, water-soluble coolants or air blast specifically tested for amorphous plastics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tooling:<\/strong><br \/>\nCarbide tools are required, especially for glass-filled grades (Ultem 2300) which are highly abrasive. We use tools with positive rake angles to cut freely and reduce heat generation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clamping Strategy:<\/strong><br \/>\nTo avoid cracking, clamping forces must be distributed evenly. Soft jaws and vacuum tables are preferred.
