POM-C

POM-C, also known as Acetal Copolymer, is the preferred engineering plastic for applications requiring high dimensional stability and resistance to harsh chemical environments. Its most significant advantage over homopolymer acetal (Delrin) is its absolute lack of centerline porosity, making it the premier choice for pressure-sealed manifolds and sanitary food-processing components. Jucheng Precision specializes in the high-tolerance CNC machining of POM-C, delivering parts with exceptional surface quality and geometric accuracy. Whether you need color-coded medical trial instruments or robust industrial bushings, our ISO 9001 certified facility utilizes advanced 5-axis milling and high-speed turning to provide reliable, high-performance POM-C solutions for your fluid handling and mechanical needs.

POM-C Machining

Acetal / POM Material Variants

Grade Common Name Key Characteristics Typical Applications
POM-C Acetal Copolymer Free of centerline porosity. Better resistance to hot water and strong bases than homopolymer. FDA/USDA compliant. Food processing components, medical handles, plumbing fittings, manifolds.
Delrin 150 POM-H (Homopolymer) Higher mechanical strength and stiffness. Superior fatigue resistance but prone to centerline porosity. Precision gears, high-load bushings, mechanical linkages.
Medical Grade POM-C MT Acetal Specifically tested for biocompatibility (ISO 10993). Available in various colors for surgical sizing. Surgical trials, pharmaceutical equipment, diagnostic tools.

POM-C Machining Capabilities

Capability Technical Description Jucheng Advantage
Void-Free Manifold Machining Machining internal fluid channels in POM-C blocks without the risk of leaks through centerline porosity. Our specialized deep-hole drilling techniques ensure leak-proof performance for complex hydraulic and food-grade manifolds.
Food-Grade Precision Milling Utilizing 5-axis CNC machines to produce complex geometries for food processing equipment under sanitary conditions. Jucheng ensures all POM-C parts are machined using food-safe lubricants, meeting strict FDA and EU 10/2011 compliance standards.
Large Diameter Turning Turning large POM-C bushings and rollers (up to 300mm) with high dimensional stability. Our rigid CNC lathes prevent material deflection, achieving perfect roundness and surface finishes (Ra 0.8μm) on large-scale components.
Color-Coded Sizer Production Machining medical sizing components in various colors (Blue, Green, Yellow) for orthopedic trials. We provide high-fidelity surgical trial components with smooth edges and precise dimensions for medical device manufacturers.

Fabrication Guidelines for POM-C (Copolymer)

Porosity Advantage:
Unlike Delrin, POM-C is produced without centerline porosity. Tip: This is critical for parts that require pressure sealing or where bacteria could be trapped in internal voids.

Chemical Resistance:
POM-C offers better resistance to long-term exposure to hot water and high-pH (alkaline) cleaners. Tip: Always specify POM-C for food processing wash-down environments or commercial plumbing components.

Dimensional Stability:
POM-C exhibits excellent dimensional stability due to low moisture absorption. Tip: To achieve maximum precision, we recommend stress-relieved (annealed) stock, especially for large plates or asymmetrical parts.

Burr Management:
While easy to machine, copolymer acetal can produce small, “fuzzy” burrs. Tip: We utilize ultra-sharp, high-rake tools and optimized feed rates to ensure a clean, burr-free finish directly off the machine.
