PEEK HPV (Bearing Grade)

PEEK HPV is the performance leader in tribological applications, formulated with a balanced blend of carbon fiber, graphite, and PTFE (Teflon) lubricants. Often called "Bearing Grade PEEK," it provides the lowest coefficient of friction and highest Limiting Pressure-Velocity (LPV) in the PEEK family. This combination allows for exceptional wear resistance in both dry and lubricated environments. At Jucheng Precision, we specialize in the high-precision machining of PEEK HPV into bushings, wear strips, and dynamic seals. Our advanced CNC turning and milling processes ensure the tight clearances and superior surface finishes required for high-speed rotating equipment, helping our clients eliminate maintenance and reduce frictional energy loss.

PEEK HPV Machining

PEEK Material Variants

Grade Common Name Key Characteristics Typical Applications
PEEK HPV Bearing Grade Added Carbon Fiber, Graphite, and PTFE. Lowest coefficient of friction and highest wear resistance. Bushings, bearings, thrust washers, dynamic seals.
Virgin PEEK Unfilled / Natural Highest purity and best ductility. FDA compliant and biocompatible. Medical implants, food manifolds, electrical insulators.
PEEK GF30 30% Glass Filled Significantly higher stiffness and lower thermal expansion than virgin grade. Structural aerospace parts, high-load insulators.
PEEK CF30 30% Carbon Filled Ultimate rigidity and strength. Best thermal conductivity and metal-like performance. High-speed gears, racing components, engine parts.

PEEK HPV Machining Capabilities

Capability Technical Description Jucheng Advantage
Precision Bearing Turning Machining internal and external diameters with precise running clearances (e.g., C3 fits) for high-speed shafts. We achieve roundness and concentricity within 0.01mm, ensuring smooth rotation and reduced heat generation in dry-running assemblies.
Mirror-Finish Bore Grinding Achieving Ra 0.4μm surface finishes in internal bores to minimize friction and wear on mating metal shafts. Jucheng utilizes specialized diamond-honing tools to deliver the smooth surface required for high-RPM PEEK bearings.
Micro-Grooving for Lubrication Milling spiral or longitudinal grease grooves for applications that utilize supplementary lubrication. Our 4-axis milling capability allows for intricate internal groove patterns that enhance hydrodynamic lubrication and debris removal.
Deep-Hole Boring Drilling and boring long-length bushings with high straightness and diameter consistency. We use specialized anti-vibration bars to prevent “tapering” in deep bores, ensuring the bushing supports the shaft evenly over its entire length.

Fabrication Guidelines for PEEK HPV

Abrasive Fillers:
The carbon fiber and graphite content make PEEK HPV more abrasive than natural PEEK. Tip: We use high-grade carbide or PCD (Diamond) tooling to prevent tool blunting, which can lead to friction-induced melting.

Thermal Expansion Control:
While the fillers reduce overall expansion, the PTFE component reacts differently to heat. Tip: We calculate “press-fit” tolerances carefully, accounting for the expansion difference between the HPV bushing and the surrounding metal housing.

Cleanliness and Dust:
Machining HPV produces dark, fine dust. Tip: We utilize high-vacuum extraction or wet-milling to protect the operator and prevent the conductive dust from settling on sensitive CNC electronic components.

Workholding Stability:
HPV is quite rigid but can be brittle. Tip: We avoid high-pressure chucking on thin-walled bushings to prevent micro-cracking, using collets or custom mandrels for final finishing passes.

Primary Applications

Industrial Pump Components
Wear rings, bushings, and thrust plates in chemical pumps where dry-run conditions or lack of lubrication may occur.

Aerospace & Defense
Actuator bearings and fuel system seals that must operate reliably without external grease in extreme temperatures.

Food & Beverage Processing
Chain guides and scraper blades in high-speed bottling or conveyor lines requiring FDA-compliant self-lubrication.

Automotive Drivetrain
Transmission thrust washers and shift fork pads that reduce friction and extend the service life of internal gearbox components.
