Delrin 150

Delrin 150, the most popular grade of Homopolymer POM, is engineered for high-load mechanical applications requiring maximum stiffness and strength. It offers superior impact resistance and fatigue endurance compared to standard acetal copolymers, making it the industry standard for precision gears, high-tension clips, and structural bushings. At Jucheng Precision, we specialize in the high-speed CNC machining of Delrin 150, delivering parts with exceptional surface finishes and tight dimensional tolerances. Whether you need a single functional prototype or a high-volume production run of automated components, our multi-axis CNC lathes and milling centers ensure your Delrin parts perform with low friction and long-term reliability.

Delrin 150

POM / Acetal Material Variants

Grade Common Name Key Characteristics Typical Applications
Delrin 150 POM-H (Homopolymer) Higher tensile strength, stiffness, and hardness than copolymer. Superior fatigue resistance. Precision gears, high-load bushings, safety restraints, mechanical linkages.
POM-C Acetal Copolymer Better chemical resistance and free of centerline porosity. Better performance in hot water. Plumbing fittings, food processing parts, medical instrument handles.
Delrin AF PTFE-Filled POM Blended with Teflon fibers for the lowest possible coefficient of friction and superior wear life. High-speed sliding bearings, thrust washers, conveyor components.

Delrin 150 Machining Capabilities

Capability Technical Description Jucheng Advantage
High-Speed Gear Hobbing Milling precision spur, helical, and worm gears directly from Delrin 150 rod or plate stock. We achieve AGMA 10+ gear quality with exceptional tooth surface finish, ensuring silent operation and long wear life.
Automated Swiss Turning Utilizing bar-fed Swiss lathes to produce small-diameter pins, spacers, and bushings with rapid cycle times. Our 24/7 automated production lines offer the most competitive unit pricing for high-volume Delrin hardware (10,000+ pcs).
Snap-Fit & Clip Machining Taking advantage of Delrin’s high elasticity to machine functional snap-fit features and integral springs. Jucheng’s precision milling ensures that clips have the perfect “click” and retention force without material fatigue.
Tight-Tolerance Boring Boring internal diameters with tolerances of +/- 0.02mm for press-fit bearings and assemblies. Our temperature-controlled machining environment prevents the thermal expansion issues common when machining plastics.

Fabrication Guidelines for Delrin 150

Centerline Porosity Awareness:
As a homopolymer, Delrin 150 can have small voids at the center of thick rods or plates. Tip: For parts requiring gas-tight sealing or aesthetic perfection in the center, we recommend using POM-C or designing features away from the centerline.

Machinability Excellence:
Delrin is widely considered the “easiest” plastic to machine. Tip: It produces small, clean chips and does not require complex deburring. We use high-speed steel or uncoated carbide tools with sharp edges for the best results.

Moisture & Stability:
Delrin has very low moisture absorption. Tip: It is significantly more dimensionally stable than Nylon, making it the preferred choice for parts exposed to humid environments.

Thermal Expansion:
Like all plastics, Delrin expands more than metal. Tip: We utilize “cool-cut” strategies and sharp tools to minimize heat transfer into the part during high-speed milling passes.

Primary Applications

Precision Motion Control
Gears, cams, and ratchets for printers, scanners, and automated dispensing equipment where low friction is required.

Automotive Interior & Systems
Seat belt components, window lift mechanisms, and fuel system parts due to excellent fatigue and solvent resistance.

Consumer Electronics
Mechanical switches, buttons, and sliding chassis components that require a premium tactile feel and durability.

Industrial Fasteners
Specialized screws, rivets, and standoffs that must provide electrical insulation while maintaining structural rigidity.
